Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about tiers, waivers, upgrades, and institutional arrangements.

Can I upgrade my membership tier at any time? +
Yes. You may upgrade from Standard to Member or Fellow at any point during the year. The difference in annual fee is charged pro-rata to your remaining membership period. Downgrades take effect at the next renewal date.
Are APC waivers transferable to co-authors? +
No. APC waivers are tied to the named membership holder and apply only to manuscripts on which that member is the corresponding author. They cannot be transferred, pooled, or carried over to the following year.
How do institutions manage their membership seats? +
Institutional members receive a dedicated admin portal to allocate, reassign, and monitor membership seats across their affiliated researchers. Seat management is controlled by a designated institutional administrator.
Is there a discount for researchers from low-income countries? +
Yes. Researchers from countries on the World Bank low- and lower-middle-income list are eligible for a 100% APC waiver regardless of membership tier, and receive a 60% discount on paid membership tiers. No documentation is required beyond institutional email verification.
How do I apply for an Associate Editor position? +
Editor positions are filled by invitation from the Editor-in-Chief of each journal, based on published expertise and demonstrated peer review experience. You can express interest by registering on the Editor Interest form in your member dashboard. Active reviewers with strong records are prioritised.
