Who We Are

About ISRI Press

For over three decades, ISRI Press has championed rigorous, independent scholarship — connecting researchers, reviewers, and readers across 94 countries and 31 peer-reviewed journals.

Our Mission

ISRI Press exists to accelerate the global exchange of knowledge by connecting researchers with the rigorous, independent publishing infrastructure they deserve.

Mission Statement

Advancing Knowledge Without Compromise

ISRI Press publishes peer-reviewed research that meets the highest standards of methodological rigour and academic integrity. We do not publish for prestige, profit, or the path of least resistance. We publish because the world is better when good research circulates freely.

Our commitment is to the scholarship itself — to the authors who produce it, the reviewers who assess it, and the readers who depend on it to make decisions in their disciplines, institutions, and communities.

Editorial Independence

No Advertiser. No Funder. No Interference.

Every editorial decision at ISRI Press is made by qualified scholars on the basis of merit alone. We are not owned by a media conglomerate. We do not run advertisements. No funding body, institution, or commercial partner has ever directed our editorial process — and none ever will.

This independence is not a selling point. It is the minimum condition for doing this work honestly.

Our Founding Principle

"The purpose of a press is not to publish. It is to ensure that what is published is worth reading — and that those who most need it can access it."

— Prof. Alistair J. Drummond, Founder, ISRI Press, 1987

Our History

From a single journal launched in Edinburgh in 1987 to a global network of 31 peer-reviewed publications — the story of ISRI Press is a story of principled growth.

1994

Digital Expansion

Transitioned to a fully digital submission and review platform, reducing average time-to-publication from 14 months to under 6.

2024

ISRI Press Today

Our Values

Six principles guide every decision we make — from which manuscripts we accept to how we treat the researchers who trust us with their work.

V-01

Academic Integrity

We uphold the highest standards of scholarly honesty. Every editorial decision is guided by merit, evidence, and ethical conduct — never by commercial pressure or institutional prestige.

V-02

Rigorous Peer Review

Double-blind peer review is the cornerstone of everything we publish. We invest in our reviewer community and treat their time and expertise with deep respect.

V-03

Open Knowledge

Research should be accessible to those who need it most. We champion open access publishing and actively work to reduce barriers for researchers in the Global South.

V-04

Editorial Independence

Our editors operate with full independence from commercial and institutional influence. No advertiser, funder, or external body can direct our editorial decisions.

V-05

Diversity of Thought

We actively seek scholarship from underrepresented regions, disciplines, and methodological traditions. A diverse literature produces better science.

V-06

Author Partnership

We treat authors as partners, not submitters. Our editorial team provides substantive feedback at every stage, from pre-submission queries to post-publication support.
